The end of the endless spring / honey
... also saw lots of fresh honey being sold next to the road. Which we happily bought to put on the bread and in the yogurt.
There was one amazing thing we had to learn: you don't need flowers to have honey! Apparently, there is some kind of disease of Oak trees that makes them produce some kind of very thick liquid. This syrup is hanging from their leaves to protect them from something. From it the bees are also capable of making honey, and it tasted great!

Today we drove to Vienna, past Bratislava, which is at the border between Slovakia and Austria. There were not many people of our age at mass, but you could tell that there were some families of different generations. After exploring the castle, I booked it down the hill to collect the car and managed to find the winding road up the mountain so that I could pick Lee up from the high parking lot. It actually gave us the best of both worlds – we got to hike, but it meant that Lee’s knee wasn’t going to suffer immeasurably because the work was uphill not downhill, and I think we both felt better after being able to stretch our legs.
