Nog 1,5 week en het is zover, we vertrekken voor 4 maanden naar Ghana! Ik ben best druk bezig met voorbereidingen treffen, reisgidsen doorlezen etcetera. Liberation Museum/War Memorial
... a lot; it's not an area we read or saw a lot about in the movies.
I recommend it to anyone traveling to Holland.
We also visited the Canadian War Memorial close to here, which I always find moving. I am okay until I read the personal inscriptions like one: "He was my only son."
In both places I was pleasantly surprised to see many people visiting and paying their respect. It was a long time ago, but we still need to remember.

Exploring further afield
... were far more than we have ever seen at home. I guess they do have longer hours of daylight in summer even if it is not as hot as our weather. They wouldn’t be very effective in their winter though. We can notice the days getting shorter than when we arrived four weeks ago. With only one week to go here, it is nearly time to start thinking about the next stage of our trip.

This week has flown by so quickly. We have had some very hot weather but we are sleeping better now with a fan so it is not such a problem. We are in the routine of walking early and riding late when it is not so hot. We have also had storms and showers of rain when most unexpected. Our first week in Holland
... used to it now but it took awhile. The other driving problem is the language. When you look at road signs and have to guess what they say it is quite a worry. We have learnt a few and guessed a few so hopefully we won’t make any major mistakes. At least we know what traffic lights mean.
The language is also a challenge when we go shopping for food. On our first day we walked to the local supermarket and bought a few things including milk. ...
