Tim woke up last night with some sort of stomach bug and was not in any shape for a grueling 3 hour bike race through the mountains, so we took it easy and relaxed in the morning sun with the pups instead. I know he was disappointed that he had to cancel the last leg of his race, but I will say it was nice not having to drive all the way out to the start early and ...

Quick jaunt into Woodstock--"quick" being the operative word here. We found a supposedly dog-friendly spot online ( but was told upon arrival that only service dogs were allowed. Debbie Downer. They did, however have an outdoor picnic table where the happy hour crowd usually congregates so we decided to order at the bar and dine there instead. We stopped at Mama's Boy on the main drag and bought scoops ...

... a restaurateur and boxing promoter. Lunch was very good -- we split an Italian sausage and pepper sandwich. The last couple hours of our trip were very scenic, but literally painful. Upstate New York is gorgeous with farms, forests and the Adirondack mountings. But two days in the car for about 6 hours each day made our backs ache and our muscles cramp. Unlike most of our car trips where we stop every ...

Departure from Nyack (we got dropped off just a bit out of NYC to avoid traffic) went well. We cycled approximately 65 km (40 miles). It was quite hilly (a lot more than what I am used to) but we eventually made it to Beacon, NY where we camped for the night in someone's backyard.
Second day was a bit easier, still hilly but not as steep. We also cycled approximately 65 km (40 miles) from Beacon to Rhinebeck, ...
