    ... west coast and stopped
for a swim at a small holiday resort town. Beaches are few and far between as most of the coast is rocky. There is a lot of litter everywhere. According to an Italian, writing in Lonely Planet, it's a sign of weakness to show any civic responsibility!

... restaurant, where we had a mixed seafood pasta which was delicious. ************e in this region speaks English, so there is a lot of gesticulating. We drove along the coast and stopped for another refreshing swim before driving back through the countryside. The drive from Leuca to Ortrano was up the Adriatic coast and we didn't need Mr Waze until the end when he took us straight to our Masseria which is about 2 miles outside the town.
The drive was even nicer than the previous day as we climbed up a mountain and hugged the coast for most of the way. It reminded Hilary if the Amalfi Coast but without the drop at every turn.

... delicious. As we got nearer Leuca used Mr Waze to get us to our hotel and he did it effortlessly.

Leuca is tiny but georgous, the sea here is the Mediterranean as it is at the very tip. Lovely B&B with fabulous breakfast of homemade bread and jams and cake made that morning. The lady lived for a time in Brighton so spoke excellent English and knew how to make an americano.
Next we will travel to our final destination Otranio.

Drove over the flat countryside to Otranto, which overlooks a harbour and beach on the Adriatic coast. Old walls enclose the attractive old town, which protect pedestrianised narrow streets and alleys with old buildings, shops and restaurants and a Roman cathedral, an old fort and a Byzantine chapel. Very different from it's gory history when in 1480 all the inhabitants were executed by invading Turks for refusing to convert (times never ...
