... Every time we passed a church they would cross themselves and just keep talking.

When we got to Kavala I was waiting for one of them to get off the bus and she was muttering, 'It's too heavy ...'. I said to her, 'You go first.' She said in English, 'Are you German?' I said, No' and she said, 'American?' I said, 'No, Australian.' And she said very excitedly, 'Me too. From Adelaide!'

... and men must wear long pants. There were some very serious looking nuns at the entrance so there was no arguing with them. The convent and buildings date back to the 16th century, and are all stunningly beautiful, with roses and gardens within the walls. Supplies were brought in via a basket and pulley system.

... led down. Nice to see butcher shops, an area of specialization still a separate business in many countries. No problem
    getting back.

A shower and computer time. Downloaded the pix. Might go for a cheeky beer nearby in celebration of getting the blog pretty much done. The closest bar had on a local footie game on so wound up at the hotel bar for a Vergina beer with nibblies, once the barman found an opener [3]. Somehow it was 2300 so sleep time.
