... stayed 2 nights before coming to Cologne to see my brother. First big culture shock was on the street fest: so many people! So many different looking people, so terribly dressed, looking tired and sick, so white. I don't mean to be judging, don't get me wrong, that is how I felt, honestly. After a guided ...

He was stationed not too far from Cologne in a small town near the East/West German border.

We were dropped off by the Cathedral of Cologne where a local ...

We are staying in Amsterdam tonight at the Hampshire Hotel. Our train went via Cologne and we were able to go out from the station and see the massive Cologne Cathedral. It's right on a massive square directly outside the train station. Handy! As soon as we crossed into The Netherlands we saw bikes, bikes and more bikes! Everyone young and old rides everywhere here. In Amsterdam today we saw hundreds of bikes lined up against ...

Tiffany's, alt beer and handbag dogs

... br> We started at Konig Salee - described as Dusseldorf's equivalent to New York's 5th Avenue - but Eric wouldn't buy me anything (I found something I love at Tiffany's). So we found some other stores in our budget.

The old town was bustling with people dining on the pavement and drinking the local beer (alt beer). My colleague Michael insisted I try it when we met ...
