Weather- High 43, Low 30 Money - 4434 euros After a late night experiencing the party atmosphere of Stuttgart, I woke to see more of the city. Today I took a walk through "das Grüne U", Stuttgart's senic set of parks and gardens. It wasn't in full bloom yet, but still worth the brisk walk. Along the way are Biergarten und Resturants. I stopped for lunch at one and got ein Bratwurst, to get me going. It led me to Wilhelma, Stuttgart's famous zoo, and ultimately towards Killesberg Tower, an ama...

... tent was still fairly full, had a band in full swing, happy Germans raising their glasses to prost, and hundreds of chickens and one cow roasting on spits. Our current favorite dance involves several moves, one being the schwim, must learn. Our meals even came with a free beer, which we tried and acknowledge that yes, it is better than American beer, but it's still beer. And neither of us have gotten over not liking beer. It really is too bad ...

We climbed up a steep and winding hill through wine fields to the castle gates, which were locked. A sign posted on the gates stated that the castle is private property and trespassers will be fined. Unfortunately this is the only thing I took pictures of from our entire trip.
Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany travelingdiva... sitting reading and had a drink that smelt so nice - licorice. He said it was Ouzo and then we talked. The meal was delicious, we had red and white wine and chatted until just about midnight! It was later than we had thought and Joe was off to a meeting in Paris early the next morning. He works for Bosch managing projects around the world. How lucky we are to have met Joe and Kersten. How spoiled am I to have spargle with hollandaise sauce!
Stuttgart, Germany dancejillCaught a night train from Vienna and arrived in Stuttgardt in the morning. Had a great day wandering and seeing the sights. Yet another map from yet another tourist info place. More statues and old buildings (Boring right? Not by a long shot). Still walking around wide-eyed like kids at Disneyland.
Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandrozWe me Matthias at 9:30 the next morning to pay the hausmeister for my room and take care of some other errands. Since the hausmeister wasn't open when he said he would be (Matthias attributed this to his East German background), we saw the lab where I would be working. The lab group offered us coffee and tee. We chatted for a while--the Germans really like chatting--then finally signed my housing contract (it's funny how many things I've signed on this trip that I didn ...

My own parents were constantly questioned as to why they took my sister and me to all these places. Their friends informed them that we'd never remember any of it or appreciate it. And it's true. I can tell you with absolute certainty that I did not fully appreciate the Mona Lisa. My ...
