... while ambling back from the Volksfest. There's a building just outside the gate that we've been wondering about. We'd asked and heard something about little animals and events. Even walked by, looked like there were a lot of people inside. I saw a box for a menu, but it was empty. And when someone outside tried talking with us in German, we understood very little, nice guy though. Fast forward a few weeks of curiosity and we're thinking they ...

... the first night but had to leave since it was the site of Stuttgarts Oktoberfest. We got a hotel room outside of town and decided to enjoy a lil more Oktoberfestivities! This time we didn't join a beer tent but decided to eat our way around. We got Sausuage in a currysauce, Beavertail Pizza, Corn on the Cob and Smoked Salmon sandwiches. It was fun since everything had a twist to it ...
Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany ktchris... through an aviary that exited through an underground cave.
We did find the entrance to the schloss later on, around the side of the garden. Didn't get that from the lady, will have to learn directional words next. We'll have to go back for the castle tour, in English, another time. Though, the gardens are definitely a repeater. We're slowly learning to suspend our expectations. It's all new, all interesting, and we've got time.
... work out.) We'd already been downtown three times. We've got the bus and train down for that route. Discoveries? Koenigstrasse is prime for people watching and eating doners (sort of like a Turkish gyro). The alte schloss (old castle) might have a cool museum with nice displays, but when you don't speak the language, museum trips are pretty quick. Also, vorsicht stuffen does not mean closed. We stared at that one for awhile before a German ...
Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany wilwaycoWe attended a big birthday party this weekend in Stuttgart. It was my boyfriend's grandfather's (Opa, as I now know him) 80th birthday. We celebrated with the entire family in a nice little restaurant in a small town near Stuttgart. I have no idea the name of either of those places.
We had some free time to explore Stuttgart on Saturday morning so we went to the Wilhelma Zoological and Botanical Gardens. It is a massive ...

Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany halenannCaught a night train from Vienna and arrived in Stuttgardt in the morning. Had a great day wandering and seeing the sights. Yet another map from yet another tourist info place. More statues and old buildings (Boring right? Not by a long shot). Still walking around wide-eyed like kids at Disneyland.
Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandrozLeaving Munich far behind us, we struck out for Stuttgart. Our journey went well for all of 5 minutes, at which point we found ourselves well entrenched in a German "stall" (ie traffic jam). We had received due warning about this phenomenon, including the fact that they can even go on for days at a time! We felt oh so fortunate that our little ditty only consisted an hour or so at less than 10km/h. I had once again taken up "easy rider" position anyway, so I didn't ...
Reutlingen, Germany kiemceThis, everyone agreed afterward, was the best month anyone in the human race has every experienced. We would go to class most of the day to learn German, then party every night. Not many German students were around since their semester hadn't yet begun, so the hundred or so international students all became pretty familiar with each other. We had some great days and better nights. At this point, I was pretty sure I could live in Germany forever.
