The start of the long flight.

Today has been an eventful day. We had some excitement this morning at work which made the day fly by even though I was on pins & needles all day. I love going on holidays but I do miss my work family. We spend a huge part of our life at work & it is a blessing to work with such wonderful people.

Five o'clock came all too soon & I rushed and had a shower & then out to the van. Heather & the kids picked up Jack & then came ...

The last day's hippie van

... restaurant I have eaten at during my entire trip, Eagle's View Bistro. The food there was incredible. The menu was varied from several seafood dishes to a New York peppercorn steak. I opted for the Cajun Jumbo Prawn Caesar Salad and the Santa Fe Chicken. The Caesar Salad was an interesting take on a seafood starter. The prawns were covered in a Cajun sauce, which was infused with herbs and spicy reds and ...

2 months down...and still going strong!!

... the most profitable, but it's giving me a chance to really sink my teeth into a challenge and try and turn it around. It's a hard slog, and it's been a rocky road so far...but I'll stick with it and hopefully make it a successful role for me!! The scariest part is the fact that I can't take leave until I've worked for 6 months...and then I get a measly 10 days a year. Dear God...I feel like my right arm has been cut off!! For someone that was travelling almost ...

A home away from home...Vancouver

... year destination, the seasons determine what you'll see. We were very fortunate that today we got to see the bears, before they hibernate for the winter. We probably waited about half an hour, but that was by default, as we had met another New Zealand couple - both Air New Zealand crew, previously based in London, so they'd travelled a lot, and were really interesting to talk to (actually Tony, the guy knew who you were, when we 'dropped ...

Vancouver

... and I - they are so cute! They were putting on shows for us too - one was busy grooming itself, one was doing laps and one was feeding. The one feeding would swim through the water and gather little pieces of fish on it's chest then head up to the surface and have a buffet, before doing it all again. They're so cute and agile and clever...they're now one of my favourite animals! And that was pretty much Vancouver.

Saturday morning - WOW

... going as I have been chief navigator so far. I took Zach with me and we left at 9 am so that we didn't get too much traffic. I had a good drive and Zach enjoyed watching the snow sliding off everyone's cars and smashing onto the road. I couldn't see out of the back window as the snow from the roof had slipped down onto the window and it wasn't until I went round a corner rather sharply that it flew off the back and I could see again. Steve and Holly ...

It's grim up north

We flew from Las Vegas to Vancouver in Canada, which is just north of America. The flight is good and we line up for the usual customs check once we land. Now this is our third entry between Canada and the U.S and it's always something to savour and look forward to because the two countries love each other so much. We get the usual grilling, You don't work? What are you going to do when you return? Who do you know in Vancouver? How much money do ...

... smart card for three days which was part of my birthday present. This card allows you into all kinds of attractions tours etc they had all purchased one to including Larraine. We were tired so we just had a walk up Davie Street & into Dennys. Our waiter Daniel favourite saying was, ' I'll be with you in a minute'. The drinking chocolate was to die for. Then we just walked home & went to bed.

Totem Poles, Tulips, Dutch Treasures and More...

Today was a busy day, but a good day. My sister was working on a movie set for 'War' in Vancouver and she had access to a car while she was in town, which means...I had access to a car! I dropped her off at work and then got to drive around a sweet Audi all day. (Evidently the car I was driving today was used in the movie, awesome!) So the first stop was the University of British Columbia to visit the Archaeological Museum. It's the premier archaeological ...
