Tematinska 7, entry from Antolska Street Bratislava, Bratislava, Slovakia, 85105, 421-268297999
... We were really excited. It was going to be the best, most sketchy day of our lives. When we arrived in Bratislava, we were not let down. We got off at the main bus terminal, and immediately noticed that all of the stores were closed and covered with graffiti. There was not even an information centre. So, we figured the smartest thing to do would be to walk around without a map. As we explored, it quickly became apparent that the ...
Bratislava, Slovakia burles... Fun but a world away from bike touring. I was a bit slow getting up but managed to make a clean exit from urban vienna. Then spent an hour backtracking when I missed a vital turn. Very frustrating. This also meant that a night in Bratislava was inevitable. The paths were dead straight for many miles and on top of an embankment also sunny but with a slight headwind. Not many people out riding made it a bit of a trial. But around 2pm I reached the ...
Bratislava, Bratislava, Slovakia i_could_walk... But when they got in, they were pretty speechless. All spanish people are techno geeks. Not to be prejudice or anything. And I have to admit, the spanish girl was pretty cute. How she travelled with 2 other spanish guys and 2 other french guys, is way beyond me. But they were definetly a tight knit group of friends. The british boys showed up, regretted not coming the night before, because the classy place was not so great. Then the south ...
Bratislava, Bratislava, Slovakia dhrycun... her. She asked me why Americans seem so upset to have to pay it since rules are rules. Gee, I wonder why. I am glad I had cash on me, too because Ryanair charges another €5 fee to use a credit card. At least the flight was dirt cheap and €5 was a small price to pay for getting on with my adventure. I had no idea what I was going to do for accommodations or anything once I got into Bratislava tonight. All I knew is that there was a bus from the ...
Bratislava, Bratislava, Slovakia atlpilot36So...a quick consultation with the ticket office regarding buses to Propad (nearest reasonably sized town on the other side of the Slovakian border), revealed that there was no need to buy tickets now, they could be bought on the bus the following day before it leaves at 7:20am! Up with the lark, we were at the bus station at 7 (total distance with Rucksack (TDR) = 2km) hanging around with a small group of backpackers waiting. There ...
Bratislava, Slovakia warm... you may know, takes place in this city. It's a great movie, and all the scenes shot on location are just great. You can totally see the Maria am Gestade Kirche and Ruprechtskirche, and the guy lives across the street from the Hofburg. And the American character stays in Hotel Sacher and meets another guy in Mozart Cafe, which I stopped by months ago. I was also pleased to see that the love interest's cat actually played a part in the plot.
Vienna, Austria patrickv... of where we where staying. So we went to the train station and walked the 30 minutes home from there. Then in the morning Derek realises he had the hostel's business card in his wallet the whole night. Dam u Derek The next day it was cruising the town a little sight seeing and a cool thunder storm. Then it was time to try the local cuisine which i might add is very tasty and cheap to boot, and so so filling. That night it was time to find new ...
Bratislava, Slovakia hastie... thing about this city, though, was its love affair with al fresco dining in outdoor sidewalk cafes. Come nightfall, all of Bratislava, it seemed, poured into the old city to grab a table at one of the area's hundreds of restaurants, cafes, and pubs. People sat together for hours, eating, drinking, smoking, watching and talking until well after midnight. Strolling through the streets, near packed tables with candles flickering in the dusk, we were inspired to ...
Bratislava, Slovakia stevecoriHello and good evening, this is Bratislava calling... Well the music here in Slovakia certainly has more than a touch of Eurovision to it. Honestly, it's Eurovision everyday in the bars and restaurants. Poptastic!! After a bit of a downer in Hungary was very relieved to get to Bratislava and find it's beautiful and exciting to be here - if quite difficult at times! The language is proving more of a barrier, far fewer people here have much English although luckily so far ...
Bratislava, Slovakia charli_and_si... that ran parallel to the main road. He disappeared again and emerged with a large bowl of what did look like soup and a whole loaf of bread, sliced. I guess he took the hint that I ate a lot! I stirred it - tripe soup. The closest thing I have had to tripe soup is pig organ soup in Singapore, which if you had a fussy palette, could be described as rubber bands in hot urine. I took a spoonful of the tripe soup not expecting much ...
