Rather than retracing our steps to Hamilton and then heading across, we took the back roads which fortunately were all sealed roads - New Zealand has plenty of gravel roads knocking about between well established places! The drive was again a feast for the eyes as the green hills and countryside around us just continued to impress. At one point we saw a farmer spraying his hectares of land - by aeroplane! We had ...

... out geysers, thermal pools, mud pools. Even had a good soak in a hot spring. A Frenchman we met in Bolivia told us about an amazing hike he did in NZ called Tongariro Alpine Crossing. It is a 19.5 km/12.1 mile hike touted as the best 1-day hike in all of NZ. Well, we did it...barely. We arranged to meet them for dinner the following evening and might do mini golf with them if we think Ed will play ...

After completing a 10,000ft jump earlier in the year I promised myself if I ever did another skydive I would do it from the highest point I could. Next thing I knew I was back in a small ...

After a wonderful day yesterday we were a bit slower moving today. We made our way down to Taupo from Matamata. The weather was horrid but Anthony and I have a rule that weather cannot stop us so we donned our raincoats are drove on. We arrived in Taupo and decided to do the Ernest Kemp cruise.
