This morning we packed all of our wet clothes in our bags, and hopped on a train to Antibes. Antibes is a little town on the Riviera which we planned to have a little look at on our way to Nice. Unfortunately a little look turned into a microscopic look, as there was no where to leave our bags, and our potential tour guide (Bernie's Aunt's friend) was not in town. From what we did see Antibes looked very nice, and it was a shame to miss out on the Picasso museum. (Antibes is now officially on...
Nice, France bernie.jessAfter a day of less than spectacular weather in Monaco, we were delighted to find the sun shining as we checked out the The Acanthe Hotel. We started the day by dragging all our luggage up to the Nice Ville train station where they have luggage lockers, then after a spot of shopping we headed to the beach. The beach was beautiful, the water is this brilliant blue colour you don't really see back at home. By this point it had reached 17 degrees C, so we rolled up our jeans and had a bit of a s...
Nice, France bernie.jessTook the train to Nice with a 4 hr stop in Avignon. The train travells very fast but you still get a good view of the French countryside. Avignon a fairly typical French provincal town with a large amount of 14th century old cily walls still remaining within the town. Also the site of the old bridge with the song dedicated to it- so of course we had to have a dance on it. My biggest problem was that I couldn't find a fruit shop anywhere in the town! From avignon across to Nice the sceenery wa...
Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France gilmoregirls Today was the day for a real holiday- slept in, went to the markets by the beach, bit of shopping, to the beach, leasurely promade on the foreshore etc. The markets here are great, all manner of stone fruit. Cherries the size of golf balls (well almost), huge sweet peaches, apricots etc, etc. Lots of dried spices, flowers and dried fruits that help give a colourful exotic atmosphere.
We have worked out the French system- duck and weave across the pedestrian crossings as they drive straigh...
Today we journey to a few of the little quaint vilages around Nice. It started raining just as we reached the first one but cleared after half an hour. Enjoyed the villages of Eze and St Paul De Vence. A bit like the old Eumundi markets on a grand scale. Lots of boutique shops and arty ***** sorts of places.
Today is our last day of French and I finished on a high note- went to the Laundromat by my self (very brave) only to find all the machines ful. One had finished washing but nobody see...

Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74Up early as it was a spectacular sunrise - full of pinks and organges. We wanted to hit McWifi before we entered Italy but we did not find one until later in the day in Menton. Before that we drove the coast road through Nice and Monte Carlo, both concrete ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... seen and spoken to, to date. <br> Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...
