Sleepyville

Sleepy old Perth. I've never seen a city close down so early. By 4.30 everyone from the offices are heading home. By 5.30 every shop in town is closed and by 10pm it seems like everyone is in bed! That was all a bit of a surprise, although it was midweek when we got there. We still expected a bit more life than that though, I mean it's a city of 1.4m people after all. Anyway it was a little hard to get a real handle on the city. It seemed like it had a good atmosphere, but its hard to judge w...

Perfect Perth?

... the Aboriginal situation here. I'm not sure the movies Croc Dundee and Australia are really enough, eh! We are hoping to learn a lot more over the coming weeks. Any comments from you are very welcome to help us out.

The immigration issue seems to be another big topic of debate and we again could do with some assistance in understanding the various sides of the story. Kevin Rudd's certainly got his work cut out dealing with it at the moment, eh.

There was a little stick poking halfway up inside the ball and electricity would shoot to the top of the ball and then around the sides of it. If you put your hand on the side of the ball, the electricity ...

A new job in the outback?!

... down to the docs where I sort out an appointment. I sit and wait and then head in for my 2 jags. Once I head out to pay I realise I have no cash so I leave my passport and head out to the cash point. I come back and pay, then run down to the bank to open an account. I get there and realise I have left my passport at the docs and that this branch shuts in 15 mins!! ****!! I run down to the headquarters along the street and when I get there the electronic sliding doors don't ...

Perth & the West Coast

... were also able to get our passports stamped when we entered. Finally we arrived in Exmouth where I was to go diving with the whale sharks with a girl called Julia from my trip. We were fitted with our equipment before being transferred to the harbour where we boarded the boat. Once aboard, we headed to "Central Station" reef to do some snorkelling & Julia & I were lucky enough to spot two rays on the sea bed & also a turtle, which no one else saw. I was more excited ...

Day 92-94 Moore River & Gingin

... bouquet of freshly cut roses from the garden for me and a bag of freshly baked scones with cream for them. We later roamed the farm and picked lemons from the orchard and grapes from the vines, the kids thoroughly enjoying these activities. Maegs was chased by geese looking for more bread after she ran out whilst feeding them, she squealed all the way to the van! Next day we left Willowbrook with 1 ½ dozen eggs (double yolkers), the whinging ...

Spurs win shock (and pancakes for all)

... the sprinkler system came on in the early hours. This morning (Tuesday) Dave, Daniel (who as a Man U fan in Perth probably lives closer to Old Trafford than some fans) got up at 5.00 to watch Spurs versus Hull on Foxtel at 5.30. Unfortunately the time given on screen was AEDT and we are on WA time so in fact the match was already half an hour old when we switched on. Luckily we had also recorded it so we watched it half an hour behind. I must say that when ...
