... approached at a set of traffic lights by some people wanting to wash windows - no amount of saying no or flicking on the windscreen wipers seemed to deter them. As soon as the lights turned green we shot out of there - and although Louise was ****** at the intrusion she seemed to appreciate the fact that they had actually cleaned most of the front window!

Not sure exactly where, but we found a park on the side of the road in Milan. It happened to be ...

We all boarded a ferry. There are a few choices you can make at this stage, the ferries go in different loops, some up and down the lake, some in a big circle, some trips go for hours, some just take you past large Villa's and some people just want a ferry to take them to the other side of the lake. ... sends us off for lunch at Parini, a former drogheria that has metamorphosed into a chic lunch place. I order panzanella, Italian bread salad, a dish I adore and make at home when local tomatoes are at their peak. What I was served was not what I expected--it came sitting up on the plate and with a smaller ratio of tomatoes to bread and other ingredients than I am accustomed to. (I usually add more tomatoes than the recipe calls for.) It was good ...

... The station itself though was really quite a spectacular building. Most of the building in Milan were but as we walked around we realised the graffiti didn't end. There was graffiti even on the loveliest of buildings. Not what we expected from the fashion capital of the world! We had dinner at the train station. Ruby was itching to try an Italian pizza and we paid €7 for two huge slices. Big mistake though, because it wasn't very nice. It was just a quick ...
