Party Time!

... streets and some clear and sane mind, we found a camping site to park our RV in spend a night....

I found Zaragoza very quiet town. It's got a big cathedral and a square in front of it, statue of Goya and few other nice things.

But at night it's completely different. Lots of people on the streets, bars start filling at 7 p.m. and are full until 3 a.m. So, for us it was - Party time!!!
I had a Mary Moment

Those of you that know Mary, know that for some strange reason, the most bizarre, random, and embarrassing things happen to her, and only her ... until today. We call them Mary Moments, and this morning, I had a very bad one of my own.

I woke up and noticed that a bunch of shoes, clothing, toiletries, etc. were scattered about the floor directly where I would normally hop off of the top bunk. Not wanting to land on any of it and twist an ankle, I ...

FRYING EGGS ON THE SIDEWALK IN Zaragoza, Spain

June 14, Sunday

I think I lost a day somewhere along the line. Anyway we left this morning after a long wait for the woman to come at 10, she was late, as the elderly man on the reception did not know how to take a credit card payment. So much for being ready to leave 1 hour before our scheduled time, we left late.

We are on toll highways to get us to and around Barcelona. They are pretty cheap ...

Hot Night

Boring long day on the A23, highest col 1223m.

Looking for aire in Zaragoza when Brits James, Clare and Katie in their motorhome took us under their wing to the park they'd already stayed in. Left over from 2008 water based expo, with typically spanish rusty iron "sculpture".

35 degree C until light shower cooled us all off.

Bren washed her hair in the public drinking fountain, starting a trend with the other family.

Our Travels so Far

Thought it was about time we wrote a blog about our trip as many of you wont be on facebook and be able to see all the photos. So a brief overview of the last few weeks of our month in Spain and Portugal and the first couple of weeks in Morocco. We decided we would do the West Africa trip as we enjoyed Nairobi to Cape Town over Christmas/New Year. We got talking to our driver of the trip (Chris) and he was doing the trip from London to Turkey for 43 weeks so we decided to a portion ...

It all begins here in Mañaland

So here we are we finally made it to the start of the trip, well still in the despedida really (which has to be a record as we are getting almost into a month of saying goodbye, spending quality time together for the "last" time with friends and family or having conversations about how it will be like we never left with the use of all the internet treats that we now take for granted such as Skype, Facebook whatever... but lets face it, it's not) but anyways here we are in ...

Onward we go

We said goodbye to our wonderful host Sylvia in Guadalahara. The morning light and warmth felt like late May back home. We took to the A2/E90 heading NE towards Zaragoza. One hour later we turned off the highway to visit an old Roman fort on the top of a mountain with a spectacular view, Mendinacellini. Structures ...

Pillars and Pubs

... started by spending a long time gazing at Aljaferia Palace, which I had actually already passed several times walking to and from the train station. It was originally built at the Moorish Muslims who ruled here at the dawn of the second Millennium. Zaragoza served as capital to one of the many taifa or petty Islamic kingdoms, that ruled most of the peninsula following the collapse of the Caliphate of Cordoba. Time for another little tangent. Basically, the ...

tengo ganas

... mom was talking to my sister and said something about Juan and I swear my heart skipped a beat. G-D it! It's frustrating. I also had this minor crisis today because my mom's trying to send me a package and they (the government of Spain) is sending it back because it has my allergy medicine in it. It's soo frustrating! Anyway Sr. Morse wasn't in his office so I left him a note saying I had a problem (casi emergencia) and he came and found me and we spoke in English. I ...

Bullfights

... and eventually he does attack and is inevitably stabbed. He again refuses to charge, to the whistles of the crowd, so a flag guy is again required to provoke the animal. It works. A man without a flag runs up and pokes to brightly decorated sticks into the bull, to applause, then two more, then two more. The orchestra plays "ta-da" music such as you might hear upon completion of a magic trick. Blood is now pouring out of the wound but the bull cannot resist ...
