Beautiful hot day in Madrid
... love the fact that there are three tapas bars downstairs which means yes alcohol. The best thing is the free pour...basically half the glass is alcohol and then you get a small bottle of soft drink to mix.
I am getting the train to Ponferrada at 11:40 am and look forward to arriving before 6 pm. Hoping to have access to internet there so I can continue to update you all about my adventures....

Madrid: HI, I'm your cable car!
... were definitely much more caffienated than the Spanish ones.
We ended our trip through Madrid with a stop at TGI Fridays in central Madrid, where we sat and watched some of the opening games of the Euro Cup. I got a super spicy pasta since I missed spice so much. Mom got her last fancy sangria, while I enjoyed some imported beer (happy to be away from so much infamous Spanish beer).

Barcelona conference
... so I kept myself entertained :) I flew with easy jet and there was no allocated seating ! I've never been on a plane when I didn't have an allocated seat so it was quite bizarre! Anyways, caught a taxi into town and on my talk with the cab driver I learnt that apparently Spain is going the way of Greece economically..over 20% unemployment, rapidly climbing crime rates etc. ...
Retreat
... that I had realized I could have done more of on this trip.
We then had a couple hours to get ready for the flamenco show. First time that closed-toe shoes and long pants were required, but I was prepared. It was a nice dinner at the theater - basically a bunch of tapas, though I wasn't feeling quite so hungry because we didn't walk as much today.
The show was outstanding. I didn't really know much about flamenco ahead ...

... Bernejas para jantar e assistir a um show de Flamenco! Hum!! Nem faço ideia de como se dança o Flamenco! Mas vamos aprender hoje!
Antes de chegarmos ao Torres Bernejas demos umas voltas por algumas ruas ainda não exploradas aqui no centro. Passamos por três praças super gostosas e cheias de restaurantes. Quem sabe amanha não aproveitemos esses cantinhos para nos despedirmos da nossa viagem...
