Waitara, Taranaki, New Zealand bindannmalweg... spectacular views and scenery. Came to a small river bridge which was easily accessible, so me and the kids went fishing for trout; no luck unfortunately, although I only had bacon for bait!! Eventually emerged on state highway 3 after about 20 miles of dirt tracking; the cloud cover had now started to break and blue skies were appearing but with them rose a wicked wind which was still blowing when we arrived ...
New Plymouth, North Island, New Zealand awsome... one yet! They are cute though..... stop it nikki... So Felt like a semi real doctor for the first time this week. I've been writing the notes on the ward round, and today i wrote a discharge summary for a patient and officially discharged him (obviously the dr counter signed it!) Been giving my opinions on kids, clerking them in in a&e. I like it here, they give me responsibility and things to do instead of me following them ...
new plymouth, New Zealand nikkiyates... br>
Day 11
I started driving pretty early, heading Stratford, taking the Forgotten World highway. I drove very slowly in order to enjoy the landscape as well as keep the consumption low as my 4WD is very thirsty. I'm glad I saved this passage for the daylight. Part of the road was unsealed and along the way you could see plenty of grazing sheep and cows. Also many possums were left hit on the road, with raptors feeding themselves on easy prey.
My ...
New Plymouth, North Island, New Zealand tsimkoAfter crossing the ferry from South Island to the North Island, we meet up with the kiwi boys in NZ's capital, Wellington. Aptly named since it rained and rained and rained....a perfect excuse to shop, party and eat (mmmmm Chinese BYO...a recipe for trouble!). The closest I got to seeing the sights was on postcards. After dancing the last two nights away, we head north to Taranaki, NZ's dairy-farming mecca. Arriving on the bona fide kiwi dairy farm ...
New Plymouth, North Island, New Zealand kelsey.watersWe drove 5 1/2 hours to Taranaki region- we heard its a beautiful drive and that it was worth seeing. We took off in the afternoon and arrived in the area at night. We slept on the side of a farm not far from the ocean. When we woke there were cows and the ocean view ahead of us- major cliffs and rocks. We saw a farmer gather some of his cows and move them across the field with a motor bike. The ...
New Plymouth, North Island, New Zealand nztouring... yards away from the stage because there was a little lake with ducks in it between the audience and the stage. we managed to get a huge space right in the center with our feet touching the lake. so sweet. The concert was awesome, and then suddenly, in the middle of it, 3 guys just jumped into the water, which is what we figured would happen. Then 5 minutes went by and the number of people went from 3 to about 20. We had to jump in. The water was disgusting and we ...

New Plymouth, New Zealand curtislowe... do with the lower two thirds of the majestic mountain. The next day we drove back out to Mt Taranaki again as we really wanted to see it, alas we were beaten by a combination of cloud and a lack of time to wait for it to clear so we flaked off again. This time for Waitomo, home of the Waitomo caves. Arrived there, its a real one horse town, the only attraction here is the caves-where we went blackwater rafting and you see glowworms illuminate ...
