... 8211; I had 4 middle aged Japanese women tourists help dress me as well as a young man!!! I tried my best to put on my most fierce Samurai warrior face!!! After a lunch break we headed to the castle gardens and then cycled along the river back to our hotel.

Now I will digress here to tell you about a random act of kindness that came our way. Brad had developed red spots on his face (nowhere else on his body) that weren’t going away with a few new ones popping ...

... heron. The legend says that, a long time ago, a wounded white heron spent his time in the hot water and that his wounds were healed by the water. Since then, people believe that the hot springs cure lots of body aches. Good food :) In the meantime, our room with table had been switched into a room with futon beds: good ...

We ordered some sashimi and salad, and Chris ordered a bowl of what we expected to be deep fried chicken. When we bit into it, however, we weren't so sure! It either was chicken, but bits of chicken ligaments and tendons, or bits of crunchy squid!

Today we needed to head to Imabari, 40 minutes north-east of Matsuyama, but as the train journey was relatively short and Imabari is quite small, we decided to stay ...

Days 117-118 - An epic bike journey

... I got some inspiration from a blog though where two girls got bikes with child seats on and put their bags in the seats. What a clever idea and one that would save a lot of money. We got to the bike hire centre at around 7am and found ourselves two bikes with child seats. The bags fitted perfectly so we were ready to go. At the Onomichi port you catch a small ferry which takes about 3 or 4 minutes to cross to the first island, Mukaishima. The whole cycle route is marked ...
