Typical London Hotel

from anonymous

Location is fine, rooms are tiny. (according the hotel details: richly appointed.... has to be a joke)

Staff is rude. All in all a typical London Hotel

Very honest staff--Left jewelry in room, they mailed it to me in USA

I found this hotel on the Internet and it turned out to be a good value. Strong points are proximity to Gloucester station, quiet street, cleanliness, low rate, and an honest staff. My wife left a pouch full of jewelry in our room. When we called the hotel the next day from NY, they already had it placed away in their safe. A week later we had it all back. Weak point was only the size of our room-very small--but most of our time was spent walking London anyway. Desk staff could have been a little more outgoing and welcoming, but were helpful nonetheless.

It was ok and the price was nice.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The double room was very small, but it was great to have a private bath. The water took a while to warm up.

It's a good idea to take your shower early since after sleeping in the water didn't ever warm up. From what I understand this is typical of London hotels. The only complaint we had was that every afternoon between 3:30 and 6 someone goes aroudn to all the rooms to check the mini fridge. For some reason the maids that made the beds couldn't do it. That was usually when we were trying to have a bit of a siesta before going out for the evening.

Nice place to stay.

Stayed 3 nights at the end of September. Hotel is on a quiet street, two blocks from the tube station. The room was very small compared to US standards but clean and comfortable. No air conditioning, in my case it didn't matter, but something to think about in mid-summer. Friendly staff, shower had a problem, water temp was HOT or VERY HOT. Would stay there again.

Dont Stay Here!!

from anonymous

Do NOT stay at this hotel! We had NO HOT WATER on any of the days of stay and were told that this was too bad. Management were rude and staff uncaring. The room was tiny - we couldnt open our suitcases properly in the room - and the bed was small and basically a sponge mattress. Breakfast was surprisingly ok - variety of cereals on offer. Overall DONT STAY HERE if you want someone to listen to you when a problem goes wrong. We were told that "Ive heard this complaint many times before - its an old building, what do you expect?". Well, for one we expected hot water in our room....what more can we say?!

Great place to stay

May family and I stayed at the Abcone hotel at the end of June 2003.

The hotel is facing a quiet park in a wonderful location in Kensington.

It's only a few blocks from the tube and a walk away from Harrods. It's very clean and beautifully decorated. The continental breakfast was included. It was vey satisfactory, if a little basic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definetely stay there again.

A day where things go wrong

Left my hostel this morning at 4.50am…it was lots of fun getting ready in the dark and trying to be quiet not to wake my roommates, lol. Thankfully the bus stop for the Airlink bus was only a 5minute walk. The Airlink bus is one of the best I've seen in terms of airport transport. It costs 6pound for a return ticket, there are ten stops …

London sightseeing

Woo hoo…couch surfing success! I have a place to stay for the weekend! So excited. The girl I will be staying with sounds similar to me in that she loves to experience new things and will try anything once! She also believes life is too short not to let out the silly…I think this is great, such a good way to be, a bit like me in that I …

Sunday afternoon in London

I got away from York in the morning after dropping a couple of suitcases at the office for summer storage. After leaving my pack at the hotel in London, the sun was coming out & I decided to take a random wander.

Caught the tube to Leister Square and picked up a China map and travel photography book at the Edward Stanford travel map …
