We spent the past weekend (June 27-June 29) in Burgos, Spain where Marta's mother lives. We stayed at Marta's parents house for the weekend to celebrate the festivals of San Juan San Pedro during the Burgos Festival 2014. We did so many things this weekend!

Our first stop, en route from Logrono to Burgos, was at a Delicatanza called CasAlba. My Spanish family knew the butcher there and he gave us a tour of the Deli where they ...

... at around 10:30am; a beautiful village where most of the properties are currently undergoing major refurbishments and the paved road has recently been redone to include way marks for the Camino. We stopped at a cafe where I purchased the most delicious of all Spanish vegetarian treats...a homemade tortilla (eggs, potatoes and peppers) in a crusty roll. Elvis Burgos - it's a pretty big city and as you're walking through the suburbs it just looks like any other built up place that you could be in. But, like always, the further you go in the nicer it gets. The walk here was pretty uneventful even with the debate over wedding songs. Even though Errin's suggestion was lame I do think ...

... of just meatballs and sauce, bread, the most amazing rice pudding (it was heavenly) and what appeared to be 2 to 3 glasses of wine, all for 10 Euro!

So, today I'm just going to walk around Burgos, take in the sights, relax and enjoy the day! Tomorrow I will head out, possibly in my running shoes, and see how far I get. The next two legs are relatively flat (as are most of the next dozen or so) and only about 20km around 13miles.

... I could say I walked the ENTIRE Camino; however, to do so, I would have to make decisions that are inconsiderate to Tammy. Not so good when we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. Besides the purpose of our journey is to see what God has next for us, not to serve my pride. Enough said. Getting into Burgos early meant we had time to visit the Catedral de Santa Maria built in the 13th century and one of Spain's largest. Outside, the building is very ornate ...
