So, today I set out with the intention of exploring the city of Chester. Bit odd to be doing this on my final day instead of the first but oh well. Luckily for me, the centre of the city isn't too far from my hotel, and the whole area is nicely walkable. I spent a while looking through the Rows and at some of the interesting little shops dotted about the place, before stopping to warm up with a piece of bakewell tart and a hot chocolate.

Day 6 - Chester Zoo

A travel blog entry by adamis on Feb 06, 2015

Brr, a cold start today! Luckily it warmed up once the sun was out, otherwise it could have been a rather uncomfortable day! My first stop for the day was the train station to collect my tickets for the trip to Edinburgh on Sunday. Also stopped in at the Costa Coffee for a hot chocolate to warm up. Looking forward to being frisked by Si but he's in Teneriffe! Both well and now waiting for Gate to open and signing off for next ...

We got to go into the cathedral there, and it was amazingly beautiful! It is a Church of England cathedral, but it used to be the abbey church of a Benedictine monastery. When we were there I lit another candle for ...

... me up at around 9am and we headed west towards North of Wales with the best intentions to climb (rather, hike) up the tallest mountain in England – Mount Snowdonia. Without any proper hiking or wet weather gear, and only wearing jeans, jumper and running shoes, we were being hugely optimistic but decided to head out anyway. The drive out to Wales was about an hour long through some of the most beautiful scenery of north England (well, that I’ve seen anyway). We drove ...
