On Wednesday we walked over to the train station to see how much trouble it would be to take a train to Ljubljana. The guy at the station was super friendly and helpful (as per usual it seems in Slovenia) - so I may venture off there at some point. We continued our walk by visiting the local cathedral again and had a coffee at a lovely cafe. ... pretty darn cute. I could NOT get to sleep that night and was tossing and turning all night long. In all I got about 25 minutes of sleep, which meant I was pretty much a zombie the whole next day.
The breakfast buffet at our hotel was interesting to say the least. There was a plate of uncooked bacon that people were helping themselves to. Safe or not, it didn't exactly appeal! There were also random bowls of green peppers ...
... over the
centuries. Well worth a visit.
By now we were ready for a late lunch
in the city centre. This was in a little restaurant in a back alley.
I had small squid with grilled vegetables whilst Alison had a pork
dish with salad. Both were divine but we are not used to big meals
in the middle of the day and my stomach does not seem to know what to
do with them.

quite weary. We have an oven here so Alison did a chicken with baked
vegetables for tea. We had bought pumpkin seed oil mistaking the
bottle for olive oil. It adds quite a different taste and is rather
good for baking. It was washed down with the remains of a white and
much of a bottle of local red so we headed off to bed early and slept
