... occupation - almost 10%25 of its population. I had my first extensive look at my sisters property, tucked between the forest line and a beautiful vineyard on hills that reminded me of Hobbiton. My niece was excited to show me the fresh strawberries growing in the field, and we had great fun playing around on the farm. That afternoon my mum, sister, niece and I sat outside in lawn chairs and had our first real 'family time' of the trip. It was ...

On Friday we had a very nice walk up a hill to see some more local houses/farms. It was so nice to walk around in the Slovenian countryside with my mum. By now we were ready for a late lunch
in the city centre. This was in a little restaurant in a back alley.
I had small squid with grilled vegetables whilst Alison had a pork
dish with salad. Both were divine but we are not used to big meals
in the middle of the day and my stomach does not seem to know what to
do with them.
The weather remained threatening but
not actually raining so we visited ...
... of the town before arriving back at our flat
quite weary. We have an oven here so Alison did a chicken with baked
vegetables for tea. We had bought pumpkin seed oil mistaking the
bottle for olive oil. It adds quite a different taste and is rather
good for baking. It was washed down with the remains of a white and
much of a bottle of local red so we headed off to bed early and slept
found another cafe and ordered a coffee and ravioli. It turned out
to be rather fancier than we had in mind. We got the full silver
service deal. Including an appetiser on the house. Very nice but a
bit over the top in the circumstances.
Our apartment is excellent. Very
friendly hosts who have left us cakes and a carafe of their pinot red.
