    ... to and the terrain gave him a lot of inspiration for his paintings. I got to the house bright and early next day along with a group of other enthusiasts, paid for my ticket and we had the most fascinating guided tour of the house and his studio, and then the garden. Apparently he kept canaries in a big cage in the bedroom and crickets in a small one, because he liked the sounds.     This will be a fairly short entry since Peter and I cycled by ourselves today. Barry had proposed an alternate rout which was taken by Werner, Barry, Steve, Gilles, Don, Sue, Peter and I.
