... and it’s stunning. Hopefully the pictures will give you a flavour. I got as high as 1940m today climbing towards a pass at 2400m.The peak above it, Pic de Peguera, is 2980m high. That’s 9,770 feet. My poor little legs have done some work over the last 2 days and the soles of my feet are rather tender. I haven’t really done much proper Alpine hiking before and I guess I was forced into it by not being able to use the bike but the terrain was too ...

... There followed a ****** descent - literally. Although I didn't see any livestock on the road, there was some in the fields; in any case what was on the pavement bore evidence they had been there before. Once again the ride down was abbreviated by a turn to climb the Port de Lers. Although the signs indicated the road was closed, I knew from previous experience that bicycles can often get ...

... the view that was rather like looking up from the drain in a sink: there just seemed to be walls in every direction. Mercifully, though, eventually the col was reached, photos were taken, and the final descent of the day began.

The pinging of gravel as I picked up speed on the chip and seal surface inspired little confidence, but when whole patches of gravel started covering the ...
