... more frustrated but still had some hope. To the end of the third street I went and again nothing. Now I removed my coat, wiped my brow and looked around for some sign of the hostel. Nothing. For the next half hour I walked up and down every street three or four times, dragging my coat in the dirt and fighting back tears of fear and frustration. Tourists and locals whod seen me pass several times looked at me with confusion but I decided it was no use ...
Seville, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands hippietraveler... plazas. One of the absolute highlights was the famous Cathedral of Sevilla. This cathedral, as were instructed, is the 3rd largest cathedral in the world and the world's largest Gothic-style cathedral. It was huge, mangificent, and very gothic-esque. Around the corner of it also was the Giralda which was the tower that accompanies the cathedral. Pictures will display the splendor. We continued on our tour through the "Judería" area of town, which is where the ...
Seville, Andalusia, Spain jakester21... Arts gallery are both free to EU residents - yey) finding a supermercado to buy stuff so that we don't have to spend the kind of money we spent yesterday on food and drink (that was a bit scary). Hey, we know that when we hit cities it's always expensive and we just accept that's the way it is. Our normal travel involves camping and cooking for ourselves (most of the time) so it's a bit of a shock when you hit somewhere and you have to rely on outside ...
Seville, Spain and Canary Islands 50odd... pretty easily (which definitely beats last summer when I knew no German or Czech). My new favorite word is vale, which means "ok/good/alright" and is used mainly in Andalucía. So, after flying through Philly and Barcelona, I arrived in Sevilla at 2pm on May 15. I went straight to the orientation hotel for a Sevillian lunch. One of the first things I've noticed about Spain is that they are quite unused to vegetarians, which is unsurprising and similar to ...
Seville, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands lar4290... out till 4 or 5 in th morning. For a naive Minnesotan girl that's a lot to get used to. The second semester I stayed in a Casa Universitaria with Ana and Enrique and 15 other crazy students from all over the U.S> plus to native Spanish student. I recently found out that their devil dog Maki recently died, tear. I loved them so much though They really were my parents away from home.
Seville, Spain gray9225... 2 spanish literature classes, one class about social justice and human rights where we have a volunteering practicum, and one spanish grammar class. So the whole food thing is going okay. For lunch today I had a weird salad with about ten pounds of oil and fish (or crab, not sure?) and tuna and tomatoes and I don't know, and some fried bacon thing with cheese that looks like an eggroll, fried zucchini, a peach, and a kiwi. They eat so much here but they're ...
Sevilla, Spain spaulos... semi-circular palace like building with fountains, a moat/canal and Venetian style bridges. We happened upon this by chance while strolling through the gardens and were absolutely wowed by it. On Saturday we visited the Hospico Los Venerables, constructed in the 16th century to look after ageing priests. It is a very calm, relaxing building with a remarkable chapel covered in painting with a gold altar. Apparently giving approval for this building and its charitable ...

The front door is in the back part of the hallway which is always dark, no matter what time of day, so it has a little light button you push and you get light for about 30 seconds, more than enough time to get inside. Once you are inside, there is a very short hallway and then on the right is the door to the parents' bedroom and in front of you is a wall. You turn left and walk down a pretty long narrow hallway and then you ...
Sevilla, Spain catedoyle... it's like 1 millimeter across. It's not like I was asking for morphine; the acid that comes in over the counter wart treatments is the same acid that's in acne medicine! After school I am going to try to go to other pharmacies and see if they'll sell me anything. If they didn't have everything behind a darn counter, I could buy whatever I wanted! Grrrrrr... We were almost late for school (again) because our bus ...
