... to spend time walking along it and sitting on the benches and taking in some sun. it’s just a lovely pier. There is a side pier that is gone and only the pilings are left. Cormorants and seagulls and mallard ducks make this their resting place as they dry their wings and contemplate feathers before jumping in the water again for another snack of fish. A few brave men jump in the water and ...

They bring a spoon along with it so that you can finish it to the bottom of the glass. Yum!

Yesterday we are walking up the square in Sopot, Poland and I notice people sitting in a café with cups of what looks like ...

Sopot, Baltic Coast, Poland carpefeline... The top floor had some paintings that were enjoyable. The next floors had furniture from the period including some wonderful old ceramic tile stoves from floor to ceiling. We even got into the kitchen. Usually you don’t get to see the kitchen.

Back on track to go get baked potatoes. I had a Mexican and hubby had a cheese. They were quite tasty. Not exactly Mexican like ...
Gdańsk, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland carpefelineOnly I would dare take almost two valuable hours out of an already packed day to bring you yet another hidden treasure. Again proving that I will go to any lengths to bring you only the world's finest cultural and photo opportunities I present Europe's longest building. This ten storey behemoth stretches three quarters of a mile (yeah, you read that right) along ul. Obroncow Wybrzeza in an infrequently visited suburb called Przymorze ...
Gdansk, Baltic Coast, Poland atlpilot36Saturday, June 25, 2009 – Gdansk, Poland

It is late Saturday night, though it just got dark about 30 minutes ago. We arrived in Gdansk today around 5 pm (again, we are 6 hours ahead of East Coast time). The bus left Warsaw around 7:30 a.m. this morning and we headed north to our first stop at Malbork Castle, home of the Polish kings. It was a magnificent place, and we were told, the largest brick ...

It would have been a very nice place to walk around, shop, look at buildings and get a bite to eat except that it is all outdoors and it was pouring rain. Our guide had a very irritating voice and style of speaking. As soon as we got off the bus we, along with half the bus, ditched her and just walked around
on our own. We found a ...
Gdansk, Baltic Coast, Poland hagatha... a big part of history from World War II. The neighbourhood of Westerplatte, which faces out onto the Baltic Sea, is where World War 2 officially began on Sept. 1, 1939. A German shipped sailed towards the harbour under friendly terms but it then opened fire on Westerplatte. Controlling Gdansk (which was at the time the Free City of Danzig, this stemmed from World War 1) was important enough to Hitler that that is where the first assault on Poland began. Of course there were also attacks ...
Gdansk, Baltic Coast, Poland eileenj... and most of the imports and exports go through here. The Old Town area is really nice. Although many of the buildings were destroyed in WWII, they have rebuilt or renovated them to the original designs. On the whole it was nothing spectacular and afterward I was ready to get back into a big city and out of the smaller towns. My couchsurfing experience was a good one. Inga and Marek were very nice, although Marek doesn't speak much English. They have a ...
Gdansk, Poland laura1... I'm sure Elissa was thinking, "Oh My God, she's gonna get stuck on the train and all her other things will be here and I'll just have to sit here til she manages to get back here cuz I can't carry it all." Then as we walked down the steps talking about the near miss and Elissa almost fell down the stairs not realizing the steps had ended at the landing. We chose a direction to leave the underground, as usual not exactly sure which ...
