I am looking at booking into the Patong Merlin in Jan 2010 for 11 nights. We have a quote for 2 pool view rooms for 3 adults and 2 kids for $5000 Australian dollars inc breakfast. I am not sure whether to book or wait for last minute bookings.

This is the main lighthouse on the island. But with it being in the center of the island and a boat sinking, they added the other lighthouse. Nice view of the island from up here. You can also see the big Army gun (cannon) installed on another hilltop from here. There was another tour that went there to see it and the tunnels around it. Decided it would be better to see more of the island instead.

By now we were a bit peckish, so stopped in a local bakery for a bite to eat. I'd forgotten all about the Australian obsession with pies, the menu was full of them! There must have been about 20 varieties, it was heavenly!
