... nice, he went over to his friends waiting in the car and as they were trying to figure out how to tell us the way, the driver just said, "follow us"! These young college kids who were probably not going in the direction of our hotel at all took the time to drive to the hotel as we followed them on our bikes.

Upon further inspection, I must have looked so pathetically tired, they must have taken pity on me.

We had a fun evening on Sunday celebrating our win with the crack crew - and then saying our farewells to those still around Monday morning. We headed out about 3 aiming to get through the Oranjesluizen lock and the Schellingwouder lifting bridge before it closed for the rush hour between 4 and 6. Sadly as we exited the lock the bridge - which had been open - shut and we ended up spending 2 hours tied up waiting for the 6 ...

... train to Nieuw Vennep which is south of Amsterdam and where we're starting our bike tour from tomorrow. The hotel we are staying at is called the Hotel de Rustende Jager and it is nicer than what I expected. Our bikes were ready and waiting for us in the 'fietsenstalling', otherwise known as a bike shed, we can't wait to test them out! Had a fantastic dinner ...

... walk, and had what we have been craving for so long.. Subway! After that we grabbed a dessert from the Amsterdam Winter Market, which was a little baked coconut ball.. It was delicious! Then we headed back to our hostel and took a nap! Apparently we needed it because we woke up two hours later! After grabbing some supper and doing a bit of trip planning, we went out for another walk to see Amsterdam's beautiful lights one more time!

... sightseeing, I started talking to another German girl (ironically blonde again). After a few days of getting no work done due to these unfortunate developments, I headed to Amsterdam slightly early to do some work.
