We were up early as buses were to pick us up at 8.45 to take us on a canal boat cruise. After that we opted to stroll round the city, visiting Dam Square, where the Royal Palace, Madame Tussards, New Church and the National Monument are. It is also the site of the first dam in the Amsteel river.

... to our rooms. After a restful afternoon we were shown to our room. At 4:30 pm they served afternoon tea. At 6:30 pm we had cocktails with the Captain, then at 7:30 pm it was dinner time. After nearly 3 weeks of eating lightly and walking for hours everyday we sat around all day eating !. The food is excellent as is our lovely room. ... welcomed me with a glass of water, a glass of wine, a snack, and good conversation, after which I got settled into my little utility flat. (Did I mention this is at the top of the building, 60 stairs, and no elevator? I thought longingly of the baggage lockers…) I am very comfortable in this sweet little nest, and I look forward to whatever surprises today brings.
