Made It To Miami and Onboard MSC Divina

Made it to Miami Yay, two days after I left Hobart I've finally arrived at my destination! Of course, the beautiful, arty hotel I'd booked at South Beach, Miami (complete with meal package and a night planned at the famous Mango Club) had to be cancelled (nonrefundable) in lieu of an evening of disappointment near Melbourne airport - but that's all part of travelling. Finally at the Port of Miami, checked my now colourless black suitcase in, and waited ...

... literally nowhere to go. There was a closed door to a restaurant and a stairwell. So we stumbled our way around the ship for a while and finally made it to the forward dining room. Only to discover that it was not the anytime dining. I finally had the bright idea to look at our cruise cards (they give you a card at check in that is your boarding pass & money for any purchases made on the ship). And the card said our dining was on deck 3 in the Golden Restaurant. So we made ...

Rusty celebrated his big "50" this year and Vera and I threw a surprise birthday party for him. To add to the fun Moira surprised us all by flying down from Holland to help celebrate this special occasion, but we also managed to surprise her by having her long-time, childhood, friend "Vicky" fly down from New York to surprise her. It ...

      ... feeling a little queasy.

We then headed to World Showcase, where there are exhibitions from 11 countries. Each area has architecture typical of the country, shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment. Some of the countries have promotional type short films, so of course we checked out O'Canada and a few others. We had lunch in Germany, crepe's in France, beer and cider in Great Britain and a tasty dinner in Morocco complete with belly dancing. And ...

      Back on American soil

A travel blog entry by michael.ataylor on Nov 26, 2012

Our first stop on the way home. We had fun at the Quito airport. Both Carol and Carrie were randomly selected for baggage search and pat down. And Cassidy resembled a missing 14 year old missing Quito girl. It was interesting to say the least, but we all made it onto the plane on time. In Miami it was all customs and security. Brett got pulled out to have his luggage scanned. Then we were off to ...
