Brought brekky this morning at the Cologne railway station because we discovered they have lovely yogurt and muesli. Then we went shopping. I bought a pair of German shoes, made in Hamburg, for $52! Rosanne bought a very comfortable pair of new season shoes for a little more. While we were in the hotel lounge this morning we overheard a group of Brits on a coach tour being corralled into where they needed to go by their super efficient tour guide and made a ...

... the past as well as the modern. It was probably all the rage back in the day. It was nice weather, the best we've had so far so we walked along the esplanade. The Rhine is a lovely river and we saw boats like the one we are about to board tomorrow for our cruise. Found unbelievable bargain at a 5* Hotel. & couldn't resist. To put it into context the breakfast cost 50% of the room rate! We didn't have breakfast! Even better, parking was also extra but as GG was too tall for their underground car park, we had to park with the smart cars in front of the Hotel at no charge. Hilarious!

And it was....quite a distance back to the car but we enjoyed the stroll checking out some of the old wares and I tried a massive garlic infused gherkin (just what you should have at a Sunday afternoon market haha).
As usual it was good to get back to our accommodation for a rest and we walked a short distance to a nearby greek restaurant where we had a ...

... met us. The cathedral was an elaborate, middle ages building, constructed in 1248 AD. Just spectacular! Our tour guide was so good! During the tour of the Old Town Cologne, she took us by a statue of dwarves, where she read a popular children's story "The Elves of Cologne". I identified with that, being a reading teacher for 37 years. Then at one point, she sang a local drinking song that the Germans sing in the Brauhaus. So fun! I have to say that the cruise line ...
