Mimi was able to spend the day with Helen and so having a car meant we could venture further ... The city dazzles with Art Nouveau and Art Decor ... and seeing Helen's childhood memories was fun ... she had moved several times within Bruxelles from apartment to 4 storey homes ... It was fun enjoying her past and hearing the excitement of a bygone ...

... about for ages getting themselves seated. Plane took off and as soon as Seatbelt sign was off all these people wanted the toilet! Congestion in aisles compromised cabin service. Got a drink five minutes before landing. So happy to see my Auntie Margaret and Uncle Ronnie waiting for me at Manchester Terminal One. ... had to have a Belgium waffle for lunch, with cream and chocolate sauce... Mmmmm :) We attempted to find the place that does hot chocolates with melted chocolate but failed at that. So we just continued to shop in the many chocolatier shops around the town before it was time to get back on the bus. We were on the bus for a few more hours, arriving at Calais in France for our Ferry at around 4. Here we said goodbye ...

... guarantee a connection. I wanted to go via Koblenz and Bonn - not the other side of the river. (I missed going through the Black Forest because we took the 'easy' route.) The German trains were a bit awry because of the floods, as we'd noticed previously. So when a train for Cologne (via Koblenz etc) arrived at the platform, we jumped on. The time was 13.39 and the train was the IC2004. It was a really old fashioned train - had compartments like the old Agatha ...
