Day One (That lasted all of Sunday and Monday)

... hours and forty-five minutes of it, with a nap in between. As we started our descent into Geneva, I pulled open the window shade and looked out at the snow-speckled ground. It didn't look like much at first, but as we got lower and closer to the city, these mountains grew out of nowhere! Geneva is surrounded by the Alps and the Jura. They are so huge and looked as if snow were perfectly painted on. I tried to get some pictures, but ...

Winter Work

We spent 10 days in Morzine staying at Chalet Kaila, learning how to cook, clean, and behave. Interesting experience. 150 people in the training group that will go on to staff, La Pagne, Les Gets, Alp du Hues, Morzine and Avoriaz. There are 10 chalets in Morzine and us up the hill. Wide variety of people doing the job, ...

Bright side: I am one of the few study abroad students that I've met so far who speaks French! I'm ...

... words rubbed off. But then it all just disappeared. Jimbo returned to the Orange shop defeated, just as Susan got to the front of the queue. By this time it was 4pm and not possible to start the next part of the ride. So our goal changed to finding accommodation. Our mediocre effort today meant that we had only one accommodation option open to us. Camping. Our newly enabled mobile internet machine allowed us to find a campsite on the edge of town (also in the ...

Lille to Geneva

A travel blog entry by winkie on Dec 21, 2013

The train to Geneva was good. Although it went through Paris and I had to change to one of the other 6 train stations in Paris. That was ok. I got a taxi as it was only half an hour after the first one arrived. Arriving in Geneva after dark and going through customs which I thought weird, but anyway all good, they weren't interested in me. Only ...
