... very good he still preferred Sandeman. He did mention that the Port had “good legs” which means it is a little thick and you can see it streaking down the glass after you take a sip. The things I learn!
We went back to the campsite that night, since we no longer needed the internet, and the next day it was off to another city with more sights to see! Besides the weather what a great start to Portugal and it’s really fun saying Obrigada (Thank you)!
... say I looked ridiculous.
Things went well with checking my bag, although I admit I was a bit unnerved when the guy in front of me got pinned with 180 euros in extra fees (but I no longer minded how ridiculous I looked). The flight was generally better than I thought it'd be, as it was a nice plane, and not as cramped as I had imagined. What I didn't really expect though was the absolute bombardment of advertising for the entire duration of the flight. The ...

... are. The distilleries were surprisingly accessible, with all of them offering tours of the caves and tastings, for a fee of course. We were only able to visit a couple (Porto seems to close for 2 hours during lunch) before catching our evening flight out, but we are glad to have tried some new and very interesting kinds of port. Thank you Portugal, we will be back to see more.
Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal tommcattWe drove to Madelana about 8 kilometers from Porto. As we got near Jessica decided that she was no longer going to be our sat nav floozie and left us in the lurch in a narrow cobbled street. A kind passerby volunteered to accompany us out of difficulty but there was no room in the car. Where upon a passing motorist stopped and offered to lead us to the camp site. There followed a journey down twisting cobbled streets some of them two way as he stopped the oncoming ...
Porto, Porto, Portugal mikeandsuecuff... getting to the place - one woman threatened to throw out her sat nav after taking the wrong turn numerous times. The rain continued and as the camp site only offered sites under oak trees we had a few very noisy nights with water dripping, acorns and oak apples falling on the caravan and a stream running underneath it we decided to move on.
Braga, Northern Portugal, Portugal mikeandsuecuff... the better part of an hour looking for any restaurant that was opened. Our meals were : a tuna salad (a can of tuna, unrippened tomatoes and lettuce) and pork (a peice of pork, rice and french fries.) Long story short we were more then enthusiastic to get on the road in the morning to leave Porto behind
Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal sofenjon... of wine in my backpack, so Im excited to bring a little back (I wish I could have brought back a case to share!). I left Pinhao, and headed back to Porto to catch my train to Coimbra. I arrived at around 6pm after the nicest train ride yet (similar to the high speed trains they have in France, for those of you that are familiar), and then got checked into my hotel. I then ventured around for a little while and got some dinner ...
