We set off at 7.00 am, after a night of storms, but the weather, while a little overcast, was dry and mild. We rode along the side of the river, before stopping for breakfast at a little patisserie at Montlouis. The next leg to Amboise was through the vineyards, and slightly inland from the river, with some good sharp climbs. The chateau at Amboise was again spectacular, set right in the middle of the town. ... We left our panniers at the hotel, and rode back toward the west, to see some of the Chateau, as we were now starting our cycling tour further inland. The River Loire is beautiful, wider than the Murray but much shallow er. There are lots of sandy banks and sandy islands in the river, and again many people were enjoying the warm summers day. ... the trip. Once it was a piece of art (Provence countryside), once it was a deluxe Peugeot pepper grinder...this time we have purchased a lovely silver Louis Roederer Ice bucket. Louis R is one of our favourite champagne's so this is perfect.

Just debating our dinner plans and then Alex / Val contact us from Amboise - heading back there for dinner now :-)

We had a late start as we did not have far to travel. Most of the time we were on totally straight roads. We could see the road miles in the distance.
