Wow, I am very, very behind on blogging here.

I have been up to a lot since Copenhagen. A lot of weeks back in the normal routine, and one that was not so routine. At the end of February, Adia and Henriette jetted off to South Africa for ten days, leaving me with the not so challenging job of taking Lennox for walks and making dinner each night. I took full advantage of free evenings and went into ...

Wow. It has been over a month here in the Netherlands. I can't believe how the time has flown or how at home I feel here. I certainly miss all of my amazing communities back home, but I can't say I've felt homesick so far. There are times that are hard and times that I'm lonely, but I can't say that I've ever wished I wasn't here. So that's pretty good I guess.

On Monday I was blessed with a fairy god mother. Her name is Anabel. Anabel is the au pair that I am replacing, making her ...

      A Dose of Child Psychology

A travel blog entry by rebeccamcintyre on Jan 03, 2015

Via a friend on Facebook, I came across the following article today. I think it has a lot of implications for anyone in the childcare world, whether they be parents, teachers, nannies, or camp counselors. While this does not particularly pertain to my life in the Netherlands, I think the ideals really translate when considering how you approach challenging situations with children. This follows many of the same ideals of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, ...

My initial plan was to only visit Amsterdam in Netherlands however I also decided to visit another city called Almere. Leontine and I woke up as early at 6am. I still had to pack a bit more stuff and I was doing it in a hurry. When I still did not go into my shower at 6:15am, Leontine lost her cool and said.....if I delayed it any further, I may have to miss my train :-) That shook me up totally. I quickly had my shower ...
