    Six Months Later...

A travel blog entry by rebeccamcintyre on Jul 01, 2015

Holy Moses. I have been in the Netherlands for six months. Half a year. I can't believe it.

I've been reading back over some of my first blog entries and it feels like reading something someone else wrote. I remember the feelings and craziness from when I first got here, but it now seems strange to me that this place ever didn't feel like a home to me. I also think it is so funny that ...

Hey family and friends!!! Well we've gone walkabout again and have started our latest journey in The Netherlands. For those of you who don't know, Pete's parents, Donna and Stu, are living in Almere at the moment, just outside Amsterdam. They have been here for about a year now and we have been planning to come and visit them pretty much since we found out they were moving here. Originally, we were going to go for just 3 weeks then return to ...

Biking in Amsterdam Does Not Make You Invincible

The title of this post is mostly a reminder to myself, as the start of this entry was my low point so far in the Netherlands. Mid-May I purchased an "Amsterdam bike" for myself so as to avoid taking the tram and keep up with my friends who lived in the big city. I spent all of 60 euros and was so excited to ride it from the train station to my final Dutch lesson on April 20th.
Shockingly enough, a 60 euro bike comes with mediocre breaks at best and ...

Wow, I am very, very behind on blogging here.

I have been up to a lot since Copenhagen. A lot of weeks back in the normal routine, and one that was not so routine. At the end of February, Adia and Henriette jetted off to South Africa for ten days, leaving me with the not so challenging job of taking Lennox for walks and making dinner each night. I took full advantage of free evenings and went into ...

    One Month Milestone

Wow. It has been over a month here in the Netherlands. I can't believe how the time has flown or how at home I feel here. I certainly miss all of my amazing communities back home, but I can't say I've felt homesick so far. There are times that are hard and times that I'm lonely, but I can't say that I've ever wished I wasn't here. So that's pretty good I guess.

Let's see, last time I wrote I had just had my weekend of the potato with Melissa. Almost two ...
