Since writing last I have experienced my first week as a real deal au pair! Adia started back to school this past Monday (5 January) and therefore my real duties began. I plan to post soon about what a detailed "day in the life" for me looks like, so for now I'll keep this to more an overview of my first real week.

My initial plan was to only visit Amsterdam in Netherlands however I also decided to visit another city called Almere. Leontine and I woke up as early at 6am. I still had to pack a bit more stuff and I was doing it in a hurry. When I still did not go into my shower at 6:15am, Leontine lost her cool and said.....if I delayed it any further, I may have to miss my train :-) That shook me up totally. I quickly had my shower ...

      Gezellig ...

... It's a great feeling walking through towns that are built for walking and cycling and not cars, so much more friendlier and pleasant to get around. We enjoyed the clog making presentation at the wooden shoe factory and then took the bus to Zaanse Schans to visit some windmills. This was another relaxing experience, wandering around and then taking in a demonstration of the windmill which crushes peanuts to create peanut oil and another by product that is used ...
