Historical Traveler Reviews ALOFT NASHVILLE WEST END

      Terrible Experience

      from

We had a terrible experience. The hotel is still under construction, so the loud drilling and hammering make this unworkable for families with small children. To make things worse, the General Manager couldn't care less about the inconveniences imposed by the construction. We'll never stay here again.

      Schlimme Erfahrung.

      from

      Excellent when finished

      from

I have to echo the previous 2 reviews. I stayed here when the hotel had been opened one week and check-in staff were obviously learning the computer system. When I arrived, builders were still working hard and there was some dust around.

The room was superb - an absolutely spotless large corner room on the third floor, superb shower and very comfortable bed. Unlike the previous reviewer, I had no problems with the wifi connection. One downside of having the corner room is it took 5 minutes to close the curtains!

Had evening meal and breakfast in the hotel's cafe - both good quality and probably the friendliest hotel staff I have ever met.

I've stayed in the Indigos in Scottsdale and Chicago in the past, and looking forward to more opening in the future.

Shows promise but opened too soon...

      from

We stayed for the opening weekend and it showed. Only a few floors were available, and construction was apparent. We had to switch rooms because the phone and cable were not connected.Check-in took longer than expected because the computers were not working properly; there was no wi-fi. The fitness center was also not completed.

So why did I give this hotel 4 stars? This will be a wonderful place to stay once they are completely up and running. We had a corner room that was wonderfully spacious, with a comfortable king size bed, plush linens and contemporary furnishings. The walk-in shower was luxurious as were the towels. The staff was extremely helpful in all aspects, including the valet parking, front desk, housekeeping and coffee bar/restaurant. (I especially appreciated the Starbucks coffee!)

All in all I think this will be a great 5 star hotel - I look forward to staying there in the future.

Great new hotel, has a few 'opening jitters'

      from

Just stayed at this hotel. It had only been open for 1 week, and apparently they were still working out some kinks, which is totally understandable. It is in a great spot, 10 minutes from downtown, and walking distance from Vanderbilt University.

The only negative is that there was a little construction debris (very little) and drywall dust from construction in the halls. But the rooms were GREAT - really edgy design, and wonderful colors. The room was enormous with 2 queen sized beds, a sofa, 2 flat screen TV's and the coolest bathroom I had ever stayed in with a waterfall shower (no door, the shower was huge so you did not need a door. The towels were thick and plentiful. And the beds!! Without a doubt, the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in.

There is a little coffee bar serving food and Starbucks coffee in the lobby and also the really good Japanese restaurant GoTen in the lobby area as well (get their Bento Box - yum).

Loved this hotel....looking forward to my next stay!

      Bad experience!

      from

I would love to write a review about this hotel - but really can't. What I can tell you is that I had arranged for a group rate for guests coming in town for my Nashville wedding. My soon-to-be husband's family members booked rooms and thought they were all set. I thought they were all set too - that would be because no one bothered to contact us to let any of us know that the hotel HAD NOT OPENED! Seriously, my soon to be family members just showed up at the hotel to find that they could not check in!!!

So, my wedding guests were left scrambling to find hotel rooms - and left changing rooms every night of their stay! It was terrible! I am so disappointed in the customer service of this hotel - not only did they not contact me or the guests with reservations - they were not exactly helpful in finding other accommodations for them!

      What a disappointment!!

      Schlechte Erfahrung!

      from

We changed into our best clothes, grabbed the car and drove out of the city towards Opryland on the outskirts. The enormous arena, home to the show that used to be hosted in central Nashville at the historic Ryman Auditorium, was our destination for the evening. We picked up our tickets for our VIP backstage experience and waited with the others ...

It was basically female bartenders / dancers, dancing on the bar, being silly, dragging other women onto the bar to dance, and guys standing around awkwardly watching. There were also women standing around awkwardly watching. The whole thing was awkward and weird. It reminded me so much of strip clubs, which are extremely weird and awkward, ...

That night we saw five acts, one of which was fresh from his performance on American Idol the previous week. The show was set in a grand old theatre and was one of the best nights of our trip so far.

Am I proud of how we in the UK got to where to where we are...I may be if I took the time to appreciate it a bit more.... and I have an A-Level in History so I do atleast undestand some of it. I think I, and maybe many of my fellow countrymen take our history for granted a bit and perhaps we could all care a bit more about, in more of an American way, for what it's done for us. Food for thought indeed!

      However, on our magical ...
