... really prepare you for it. I started wandering in a slightly random fashion toward downtown, following my nose and the crowds for anything that looked particularly interesting. I eventually found myself at the Empire State Building, and figured now was as good a time as any to check out the view. We were undecided where to go up until last night. It was either Miami or Niagara Falls. Miami was expecting very bad weather so we finally decided on Niagara Falls. We were so excited to be going on holiday. Suggestion, when booking a hotel... do not read too many reviews of the hotel as it may keep you from choosing one. B has not had a holiday since last year. We got some padkos (road food) shopping done and packed as we wanted to leave at the crack of dawn for our 6 hour drive.

Our apartment block had their annual Summer Bash Party. I met up with B's colleagues, we had a good time and boogied but it wasn't the same without B. B left to South Africa for a conference. The theme was Spanish but the food was Mexican. All drinks and food were on the house. They had a DJ, who played hip hop music. Towards the end of the evening they gave out prizes.... $1000 off ones rent... darn our ticket didn't get drawn ! Next time...next time.

... into our apartment at One City Place, last friday. We live on the 9th floor. It is a one bedroom, with walk in cupboards, a full bathroom with marble floors, open kitchen lounge with granite tops, all in beige white carpets. Our apartment is equipped with a fridge, stove and dishwasher. Going to take a while for me to fill that dishwasher... will have to get more crockery. ... furniture. It's was perfectly situated for us betwen the ofice and the shops. I went for a long walk and it was great to see how little had changed. For dinner we met an old friend at Nobu on 57th. Nobu is a good but rather overhyped sushi restaurant in midtown. The sushi is average but the miso cod was wonderful. It's worth getting hold of Zagat guide as their recommendations are always worth listening to.
