Day 24: Library, Tea and Tree

... we went home for a while before venturing out again to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree. It was still snowing and the crowd was much thinner than the previous Sunday. So we were able to get nice and close to the tree. The whole precinct is just magical. We also saw the Rockefeller centre in Lego. Pretty cool.

After the tree and tea we wandered home down Sixth Avenue, checking out the lights and late night shoppers.

... to the fact that he did know his way around, meant that we had a very fast journey through the back streets of Queens and Brooklyn, arriving at the airport in an hour and a quarter.

I was looking forward to a snooze on the flight home, but the woman sitting next to me had other ideas and I now know not only her life history, but also her thoughts about the forthcoming Scottish referendum ...

... floor (381m above ground level). Our New York pass gave us entry to the 86th floor observation deck. Once we had gone through the mandatory security screening we stopped at level 2 to collect our tickets to the New York Skyride which we would do on the way out. The view from the observation deck was amazing. After taking a few photos we went back down to do the Skyride. This is an aerial tour of the city from specially equipped, motion simulated big screen theatre seats. Next ...

... taxi. I told the driver the address and then he asked “off Lex?” I confidently answered YES! I knew what he meant! He was asking if the hotel was on 57th near Lexington. So now I was in a cab and had successfully spoke the language of the city. And we were on our way! I was quite proud of myself if I do say so.
