Left Padua at 11.00 and headed north on the Autostrada and reached Slovenia around 12.30. The first valley that I rode after the border had a beautiful blue-green river running through it. This was a great introduction into ...
Our early morning pick-up arrived early so we were up at 4.50 am and on the road by 5.20 am. It was then a long and tedious wait at the airport for our flight to Ljubljana. We arrived at our hotel around midday, but had to wait till 2pm to check in, so left out bags and went for a stroll. Bob was instantly taken with Ljubljana, as was I. ... military base in the outskirts of the city. An unexpected eclectic mix of cultures and music styles in each of the main buildings, think old Mario looking Slovenian guy sitting on a chair with his acoustic guitar and a voice trained on a lifetime of whisky and cigarettes.. Past the small shed come bar, numerous pieces of graffiti artworks and guys sitting in a playground smoking, there was another building with heavy rock/metal. Far from my expectations from a night in Ljubljana!!
