Road Trip Day Two ..are we there yet?
Well after a beautiful day driving from Germany to Italy we started our next day's journey with great enthusiasm....but the weather Gods were not as happy.
We enjoyed a quick breakfast at the hotel before setting out. The skies were grey but the scenery was nice. At first I thought I'd take a photo of each tunnel entrance...sort of a …
Maria, Maria, Maria! The Best Guide in Girona!
Well after a quick 1.5 hour trip on the Renfe Train from Passeig de Graciŕ in central Barcelona I ended up in the city of Girona where my best friend from residence, Maria, was going to show me around for the day! So I will begin with a bit of information about Girona.
There are around 97,000 people in Girona and the city is located 99km Northeast of Barcelona. The city has deep roots within the region of Catalunya and is an incredible getaway for the weekend, especially ...

... she would wrap it again, she searched around unr the bench and found a bag for us at which point we made our adioses and rapidly deparetd. We found a campsite on the outskirts of Figueres which seemed deserted - but was open but set up camp - hooked up the electricity and eventuallly the very pleasant owner turned up and unlocked the ladies for Caroline and took our details! Tomorrow we head towards ...
Calonge to I'Estratit to Cadaques to Berger
... a small stone canopy over the booth window. Only a small bump, hehe. The ruins weren't that impressive, not a huge amount of info. The roads to Cadaques were like an extreme horseshoe path. I spent the day fearing for my life! As demonstrated in the video. A very stressful journey!!! If I had been driving one of two things would have happened. 1. I would have stopped on the road got out and walked... Crying refusing to drive any further or 2. I would have batted of ...
Barcelona to Calogne
... we could get it cheaper else where, we haven't found any yet! Yesterday was mostly driving along motorways to start (there are an insane amount of toll booths) and then along the costal mountains. We had one hiccup with our first toll booth experience. We followed a van to what appeared to be the only lane that would accept vehicles like ours only to get there and see you have to have a prepaid ...

TravelPod Member ReviewsAC Hotel Palau de Bellavista by Marriott Girona
We were on the road between Italy and Spain and found ourselves in Girona at the end of a long day of driving. I used my Marriott iphone app to discover this hotel. It is a bit complicated to find in the city unless you have a GPS and of course the early evening traffic was frustrating but we were glad we made the effort.
The rooms are lovely, clean, spacious and very comfortable.
We had drinks in the bar and dinner in their restaurant. The menu is not extensive but we had great service from Pablo. We also made a comment about the lack of outlets in our room and the night manager found us in the bar and gave us an expanded plug to provide two outlets for our computer.
They seemed genuinely interested in insuring our comfort and enjoyment at their hotel. There is secure, free parking which is not always available in Europe so we counted that as an additional plus!
The frosting on the cake, a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. While it was a rainy evening I could imagine how nice it would be to have drinks and dinner alfresco!
