Padova is a former powerful city state that seems to be a suburb of the uber-dense Venice. The only reason we stopped here was to see some family friends of Mia's she knew years ago back in Montreal. As usual having a local connection makes all the difference and we greatly enjoyed our stay.

Just Like Clockwork
... Today we had breakfast then parked the car near the center of the old part of Verona and walked in. We just walked around and didn't go inside any museums or churches (THANK YOU! I'm all museum-ed out as you probably know). We went to Guiliette's Balcony and as soon as we got there I wanted to go (it was too crowded). We grabbed a roast chicken for lunch and ate it near the market square, where I bought Pigeon girl's birthday ...
Our Journey To Italy

Venetian Mosaic
... of all the water. Until the acqua alta, that is. In fact, in the center of the Piazza San Marco are some low-lying drains that last night had water bubbling up out of them. This is the beginning of the acqua alta. You can see the tables and planks waiting to be put to use in each campo and along some of the larger streets. Thank heaven we will be long gone before it becomes a problem.

After An Unexpected Delay... Ahhh, Venice!
