... Mallorca was the first place we’ve been where it hasn’t rained while we’ve been touring although, we only missed the storm by a couple of hours – by nine o’clock it was wild and the sea was quite rough although in a ship this size, it doesn’t move around that much.

Pictures will have to follow after I unload the camera

More when we hit Tunis on Suzanne’s birthday.
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain suzanne-normanAnd at long last we are on our way ... can't quite believe we are actually starting this journey after all the work, planning, talking .... And we know we've been to San Telmo many times before but this time it is different!! And so good to have Simon's old friends Max & Linsey onboard - after all they were really the people responsible for him ending up in Port d'Andratx to begin with.
St Elm, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain sharkitaPalma is a beautiful city and has a nice attitude about it. You get the feeling that there is mystery, danger or something just lurking around the next corner, but when you round the corner, what you find is yet another party and another group of residents who seem to have truly mastered the secrets of a good life.

We arrived in Palma close of midnight on Wednesday. This city is also known for its wild nightlife and tonight was our only opportunity to ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourneyWe arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.
sa Calobra, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... waded around in the surf or fell back to sleep on the beach. It was good to get rehydrated after all the alcohol and dancing from last night. It was a nice relaxing afternoon with a beautiful beach view with several other yachts in the bay and a parade of nude or topless people walking by.

One of the girls met a guy on the beach. They spent a few hours chatting and getting to know each other. It was ...
Colònia de Sant Jordi, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... speak no English. We have a great dinner and some nice (and inexpensive) wine. The owners are from Argentina so I discuss my trip to South America with them.

We head out to the main bar/club street. My back is killing me. Every step is painful but I try to put it out of my mind. The area along the harbor has a good café crowd but the bars are empty. We finally go into one at 12. Within 30 minutes there is a good crowd. Almost all ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.traveller... a hotel reservation service at the airport/railway which offers unused rooms at a big discount. No such service in Mallorca. The tourist info desk says they got rid of that service and that they were unable to help. They do, however give me some literature which has a hostel listed in it. I would guess that it is full but it is a starting point from which I can walk around to hotels if it is full.

As I walk into the hotel, there is a living room full of people. They all ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.travellerHmmmm. How nice is it to wake up just to know that you don't really need to get up yet. Turn around and then open the blinds and see that it's beautiful outside. Have some sun shine in your face, great coffee, breakfast and the knowledge that you are still on vacation. You get ready, leave the house and suddenly the sky is turning on you, it gets all dark and gray and gloomy. By the time you are too far away to run back to get an umbrella it totally opens up and starts pouring down ...
