... o’clock on a Monday, but we never felt rushed and the service was very traditional (more crumb scrapers) and friendly. If you check out their web site you can see that the restaurant is made from a converted 18th century sheep farm and they've kept most of the original character- especially inside the barn portion where we ate. The menu was, as usual, completely in French and additionally used a lot of French haut-cuisine terms unfamiliar to us, but my translation ...

As we were leisurely packing up our tents I heard a loud shreak which can only be described as a feminine homosexual man being confronted by blood thirsty wolverines. But when I turned to see Alex close to tears due to a stick insect I couldnt help but laugh. Apparently he thought a stick was on his arm and when he went to knock it off it started walking. Although I ...

Miradoux, Midi-Pyrénées, France clgsIt was a long day on the bus, but we finally made it to Provence. On the way we stopped in Avignon to see the Pope's Palace and then made our way to the Roman Aqueduct. After dinner in Provence, we stumbled upon a crazy street party with a DJ. It was fun experience to dance with the locals and get a feel for the flavor of the town. We are off to Barcelona tomorrow!
Provence, France brevansThrough Biarritz and Bayonne, then long cross-country slog which eventually become pretty after Casteljaloux.

We flew into Paris and then spent a few days acclimatising and sightseeing . Then we headed off for Agen on the TGV and then onto St SylvestreSur Lot which was where the barge was moored. As part of the purchase process we had to have the barge surveyed in order to get it insured - so the objective for this trip was to get the survey completed, have any necessary work done and finalise the ...
Toulouse, Midi-Pyrénées, France bargetrip... industrial wasteland, we started to have concerns. Either Tom was taking us out to a deserted part of town to rob us of all our belongings, or he was lost. The best part was we realised he was lost before he did, then all of a sudden he went silent and refused to talk to us any further. We had to find our own way back to a major road in Avignon before he came back to life again. Lesson 1 - computers don't know everything. Not 5 minutes later, Tom very confidently informed us to turn left ...
Provence, France wells2008... during the Hundred-Year War. It was eerily quiet. Its single street was devoid of shops and we couldn't even find a tabac or coffee shop. Less than a one horse town, though the lack of souvenir shops was refreshing. DAY 11 WED I rose very early in the morning so that I could walk down the lane and ring the credit union at the village telephone. I was relieved to learn that my $6000 would be reimbursed though I would need to fill in a form and send a ...
