We were awakened by a calliope of roosters crowing, donkeys' braying and church bells ringing at daybreak. There was no use trying to sleep, and there's more exploring to do!

Our innkeeper prepared the most amazing breakfast. To start, a small glass of hot tomato soup, followed by homemade bread with his own jams, cold cereal was on the table as well as Greek yogurt with thick honey. We were served feta cheese, olives and cold ...

By now, we are establishing a routine. Larry and Frank are usually up first. I follow soon after to find Larry who has found the best coffee shop. We usually have Greek coffee or capacino. Greeks have fabulous pastries. Spinach pies are my favorite but their sweet buns are also marvelous.

... my book, had a feta cheese sandwich and a glass of wine then Pg woke up so I had another glass of wine (!) then had a shower and we walked to Panorama restaurant for our dinner. We sat and had some red wine while we looked out at the Aegean. We had ordered bread and 'dip' (butter) but our host took it away and gave us garlic bread. Then he suggested we have stuffed something, roast lamb and Greek ...

... the island's infrastructure from his own pocket. So the road that goes around the island, he financed it and also the first (and only) cinema. Oh, another interesting thing about the island that the whole water supply is delivered by ships. So our Greek friend told us that probably we should not drink from the tap, but I did anyway. This water had no swimming pool taste at least :)

Leaving Spetses and going to Kalabaka, but that's in the next blog entry.
