Years ago Mom said that she would like to take her 3 daughters to Chile to visit Gloria, who had lived with the Fergusons in 1970/71. Two weeks ago we decided that now is the time to make this journey. Dec. 2 we will fly from Milwaukee to Atlanta, GA to Lima Peru. We will visit Machu Picchu. Then we will fly to Santiago Chile.
... starting to snow again, and there are no lights, leaving me pretty much blinded, and so I'm left to rely on my other senses, trying to smell and touch my way to safety. It's all unreal.
I'm pottering along when I pass a truck on the side of the road. I think nothing of it and continue on my merry way. A few seconds later, my mirrors are filled with light, absorbing the full beams of the aforementioned vehicle. It ...
We had a good time at The Wilderness resort. However, their customer service sucks! I found out later that is was not just us. Some other people we know went there about a month later and had the same poor customer service experience.
We enjoyed the indoor water parks and laser tag. Later that night we went to Ho Chunck Casion and had a little fun on the slot machines.
... the right side and thought they might jump onto the road, so to warn Marcos not to drive into them she exclaimed "Oops, oops". Since then the following days deer would be called "Oopps". At night some unidentified animals came to our tent to eat whatever they could find (rubbish we always leave in the car since passing the bear-country-test). The night was chilly, but our fantastic new Walmart $15 Dollar sleeping bags did their job!!
Chequamegon, Wisconsin, United States veromarcosHey guys, As you might have guessed from the title of this entry, we are indeed done with our trip. Sr. Olson is back in Rice Lake with his family, and I sit here alone, writing this in Marshfield....it is a sad day. There isn't much to say since we only had a few days since our last blog, but I'll try to bring everyone up to speed. We had a few more days on Bocas del Toro, which we took full advantage of. We went to a few more sweet beaches and enjoyed the ...
Marshfield, Wisconsin, United States wolfeacWell, only 36 hours until we head to the airport. We are both getting quite excited. Right now James is filing our ice axes before we pack them up. We are 98% packed and have a few things to get done tomorrow. We will try to update as soon as we have a free moment. We arrive in Auckland on their Friday ( our Thursday) and we are going to be staying with a friend and taking a nice shower and perhaps a nap. stay tuned for more info! Carol Lynn
Madison, Wisconsin, United States teamroadtripThis week we discovered something called wwoofing (willing workers on organic farms). There are some beautiful and amazing places we can stay in exchange for a few hours of work a day. There is a place called the Lazy Fish that is on the ocean in the Malbrouro(sp?) sounds that seems quite ideal. I think we are going to be doing a lot of this kind of work as we travel around. You can stay for a week or a month! Kind of fun. Still counting down the days. Carol Lynn

Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States armeda_vandam... signs next to each of the historic carriages and sleighs. Many of them were restored by the same person and we were amazed on the condition and age of some of them. The horse and carriage took us to the saw mill. We were the only ones there. The original was destroyed by fire, so they built a replica using the same methods and materials as the original. It is powered by a damn; however the water level was too low for a demonstration. The guide who operated the ...
