The subway holds the "other" 90% of the Hong Kong population. You could actually shop and eat underground in air conditioned comfort.     ok it's 5pm now. So we met up with my dads old neighbours from when he grew up in HK. I've visited them before, 5 yrs Ago when I was last here. They all remembered that I was traveling to Perth and now I am going again :)

    ... we were really hungry (particularly after not managing breakfast!). As luck would have it, there was a cheap cafe place in the train station that did decent food, where I had a bowl of rice with roast pork and pal choi for about £2.50.     ... Hong Kong island offering a fantastic view of the city. We waited in a queue for about an hour, which was typical of Hong Kong (everything seemed to be something of a manufactured tourist attraction). The tram was originally built by the British in 1900-ish and takes a 10 minute ride up the very steep hill.
