    OK hostel

This is an ok hostel but I've been to better hostels for the same price. The best thing about this hostel was the breakfast. It had the most impressive free breakfast I've seen in any hostel. Most free breakfasts are some bread, fruits, and maybe some cereal. They had all that stuff plus meat and cheese for sandwiches and eggs. The rooms were nice. Plenty of space and storage available. On the other hand the showers were TINY and the bathroom as a whole was pretty gross. Also the wifi doesn't work above the reception area. Not a bad place. I've certainly been in worse hostels. But I've also seen better. 3 stars.

    First stop

Today I arrived by Munich, Germany, after a long and confined 23 hours of flying. I met Alistair, my colleague and friend, at Munich Hauptbahnhof (Central station) at only a little past 7am. We dropped our luggage off at our nearby hostel and headed out for the day. Alistair had been drinking the night before and was struggling on 1 hour sleep, and …

More than beer and nazi's but not by much

A travel blog entry by mike.schwartz on May 05, 2015

My first morning in Munich I went on the free walking tour with this startup company (not Sandemans). My guide was this British guy that started up this company after he got fed up working for Sandemans after 6 years. He was a really great guide. The first thing he said was there is more to Munich than just beer and nazis. Then, most of the tour …

... cabbage, and some sort of potato dumpling. I had none of the pigs knuckle (it sounds and looks icky!) But apparently it was fabulous, I LOVED the suckling pig until I realized that baby suckling pig is a pig: (, and the duck was delicious. I am not a huge fan of traditional German food but this was amazing. Of course we tried a few of the beers on tap all brewed on the premises, my favorite was the Weissbeir (white beer), Alex's favorite beer was whatever came in the ...

... head out tonight cause I'm really tired. Actually, the pub crawl is leaving as we speak. Tomorrow, I'm going on the New Munich free tour. Maybe going on their beer tour too. As for today, I decided to buy a pretzel for dinner. It was sliced in half with toooons of butter in it. So yeah, it was really good AND they have mountain dew in this country. Not much to complain ...
