... there would be no ride on the bike and definitely no ride on the cable car because Mont Blanc was shrouded in thick fog. So we spent the day wandering around looking in the shops and taking in the Chamonix sights. Lucky we brought our raincoats with us. The shops were mainly outdoor brand stores like North Face, Columbia and many others but we just looked rather than bought up big. The next day the sun was shining so we got up early and I ...

... and split by the German/Swiss border. So right now, across the lake we can stare at the wonder that is the Swiss Alps, and very fetching they look too. All hickeldy-pickledy and some rising up well above the horizon of Bodensee. The lake is so enormous that, like Titicaca, it has a beach. We are way too tired to lay on the beach. It's warm here. During the war ...

Storm: low, very dark clouds, wind, rain, lightning and rolling thunder right above us made our journey back to Konstanz from Lindau very memorable late this afternoon. We thought we have our trip on the lake in the late afternoon, to enjoy the beautiful summer evenings, to see the sun set over the lake and enjoy the twilight. Today started well, hazy with some high clouds but no rain, plus we thought the sun will come through as it did yesterday by late morning. We went ...

... Museum. This was a big museum dedicated to the great airships of the 1930s. Fascinating! I hadn't realized that these dirigibles made regularly-scheduled trips between Germany and Brazil in the 1930s! The exhibits were great - they displayed lots of memorabilia from the airships, and gave you a feel for what the cabins looked like through actual size mock-ups. You got a great sense of what it was like to "cruise" from Europe to the ...
