We spent about 3 hours touring the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. It was a very humbling experience. The museum is located at the Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated. It just underwent a $36 million renovation and reopened last month.
Tomorrow we head home, 1600 miles in 3 days.

... 30 min wait we were greeted by a friendly local cop who was frisking everyone before they were allowed to proceed. But once you got on the street it was worth it, the whole place was alive with excited chatter, guitar chords and stinging vocals coming from every doorway. The police presence was immense and made us wonder how we'd react if this was the scene on a typical Saturday back in the UK....made us wonder even more how we'd afford it! But as ...

... A lovely surprise was when Hannah arrived, it was good to see her. Janie and Mark put on a fantastic feast for all of us. Hannah had to leave and Janie had to head out to a meeting. The kids watched a movie. The rest of us sat on the back porch chatting about anything and everything. Rachel then joined us for a bit. We had a wonderful evening. Everyone then headed off either home or to bed. I sat up doing a load of washing and watched some tv before finally getting into bed at ...

... down Union Street to Wiles-Smith Pharmacy it is supposedly the oldest independent pharmacy in Memphis and still has a soda fountain. We had delicious hand dipped milkshakes. We were all so full, Courtney couldn't finish hers but the rest of us all pushed through, with Rorke leading the way for the kids. We then drove to the Memorial Park Cemetary to see the Crystal Grove Grotto which sculpturally depicts the life of Christ it is ...

... but OK considering I have not played in a year or so (1st 9 - 49, 2nd 9 - 45)!!! Forgot my camera so unfortunately no pics!!

We sat outside on the porch and watched the hummingbirds darting in and out to the feeder, chasing each other. The kids especially Courtney were captivated. After a good while we headed inside and got ready to go for a swim. A friend of Janie's has a ...
