    Traveling to the Traums

    ... were left to wander the city on our own. We stopped at a few gift shops, enjoyed some ice cream and then visited the famous bridge.

    Tonight for dinner, we formally introduced ourselves to one another in our tour group and enjoyed a traditional German meal consisting of soup, turkey nuggets and fries. After a long two days of traveling, we are settling in for a good night's rest!

    We left our hotel at 8 am this morning and drove to the Bridge at Remagen. We ran into some traffic, but arrived shortly after 11. We saw what was left of the bridge and also went inside one of the towers to the Peace Museum. This museum had lots of pictures of the bridge before and after the war, plus pictures of some of the men who fought ...

    ... gate the lady needed to input the visa, so she ploddingly went thru her screens to input the visa. Then she specifically asked if I was impressed how fast she was? I was tired, it had been a long day, long bus ride, wrong terminal, I just wanted to go on my flight, and no I wasn't impressed by her speed.

    ... was valued by Christies at $2 million…until the owner said he had drilled a hole in the bottom to make it a lamp. Now worth zip. And the personal ‘tour’ of the paintings was simple incredible. We have a whole new appreciation of art. It’s amazing what a small torch and a personal spiel can add to a painting.

    We’ve had our share of travellers tales already - like missing the train ...

    ... from day one. The culture shock was unlike anything I have experienced in my life. Now I feel like I could travel all over Europe without issue. I have also overcome my fear of flying during this trip. I guess 7 flights totaling over 25 hours of flying in 3 weeks will do the trick. And speaking of which, we are already busy planning our next European vacation. Any guesses as to where? One hint: we'll definitely be drinking a lot of tea & possibly partying with Harry ...
