    ... as their is a corresponding increase in car traffic on that day due to family outings. So there were just hundreds of these trucks parked with their drivers sitting out in front of the cabs with their lawn chairs and grills. Just seemed weird.

    ... the opposite! We ate in a diner, Wurst and Durst; we had wurst, pork sausage with fries, mayo, tomato sauce and mustard. When in Germany, it was OK, the beer better. Then we returned to the bus, another female guide, also great, so the day had improved considerably after a shaky start in regards to our touring! There doesn't seem to be many Asian tourists in the city. They are not catered for at all even though the boat guide made a point in explaining that trade with China ...

    ... out vibe, especially since we don't have a place to stay. Also there is some gathering of people, I'm assuming middle eastern, that are protesting and screaming about something.     The alarm went off at 7:30 and we repacked everything into the "correct" panniers and rack packs. We left the hotel to walk into Hamburg and soon found a place to have coffee and some pastries for breakfast. We then continued on towards the river Elbe and found the upper path and walked alongside the river.     ... was firebombed during WW2. On July 23, 1943, a firestorm developed because of the Allied bombing, destroying 8 sq. miles and killing 42,000 people. We stopped at St. Nicholas church, which was briefly the tallest building in the world. It was destroyed in the firestorm and only the steeple remains.


    We returned to the ship, went dancing, finished packing and had our last dinner aboard the Symphony.
