... Saint Emilion .... BEAUTIFUL! The town is full of gorgeous old buildings, narrow streets, vineyards and stunning chateaus. We explored at our own pace here, and sat down for a beautiful lunch right in the middle of the town, surrounded by the many of the old buildings. Will definitely be bringing our parents back here when they come over! Next trip was to the Great Dune du Pyla. Again, a 45 minute drive from Bordeaux, but heading towards the coast. The following evening we visited the local pub where we listened to jazz and blues music and spent the evening with a local French family, conversing in a mixture of our poor French and their much better but limited English and with the help of the iPhone “iTranslate.”

... near Vigeois. The kids thought it was quite good having a little wood and being beside a stream but declared it to be the best ever when they went up the bank and saw a lake with a swimming beach complete with sand and two diving boards. After a swim and lots of jumps we had dinner and went for a nice walk around the lake which was lovely and a lot bigger than it looked. Then they wanted to go for another swim and this time had the beach and boards to themselves. ...
